Martin Scorsese Makes Violence Art

‘For Scorsese, “Mean Streets” opened doors, but “Taxi Driver” opened eyes.’

I second Michael Ventre’s opinion that Scorsese’s works are operatic, ‘the action usually comes in shocking and bloody staccato bursts,…’ and therefore appropriate.

I do believe that violence should be warranted in film for the story’s sake and for the viewing experience.

There is something intrinsic and beautiful about violence and I would like to explore this further in the time and light project.
